A New Twist on an Old Classic

Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky completed Swan Lake sometime in 1875-1876, but the ballet was initially considered a failure. Now, more than 125 years after its inception, it is one of the most popular and beloved ballets of all time. This love story tells the tale of Princess Odette who is transformed into a swan by an evil sorcerer and Prince Siegfried who is desperate to change her back. From June 23 to July 1, The Houston Ballet will perform a modernized version of the classic story at the Jones Hall for the Performing Arts. This beautiful venue is less than a mile from the Whitehall Houston, so you could walk to the performance if you're in the mood for an evening stroll. The Houston Ballet has added depth to the story in the hopes of creating more complexity to the characters and their motivations. Whether you have seen this play performed before or not, you will not want to miss this interpretation of a longtime classic.
